1.Class Registration and Student ID

Undergraduate and graduate students
Register for classes using the SOSEKI class registration system. In order to access SOSEKI, you need to know the I.D. and initial password written on the back of your student I.D. card. In addition, you can check your class grades using SOSEKI.
本科生和研究生

Foreign exchange students
You need to attend class guidance sessions, and you will learn how to register for classes in the sessions. Those students who cannot attend the class guidance should contact the International Affairs Division.

国外交换生需要参加班级指导集会，在集会上将知道如何注册班级。不能参加班级指导集会的学生需要和国际事务处联系。
Research students
There is no need to officially register for classes. If you would like to audit a class, please get the permission of both your academic advisor and the instructor of the class. In addition, please inquire at the office of each respective department/graduate school for instructions on the necessary procedures.

研究型学生不需要官方注册班级。如果你想旁听，需要得到学术顾问和班级导师的同意。必要手续详细信息请咨询各学院或研究生院。
Student ID Cards
When you use the library or computers at Kumamoto University, you need a student ID card. In addition, it is also needed when you want a Certificate of Student Status or an academic transcript issued. Everyone other than foreign exchange students should collect their student ID card at the academic office of their respective departmental/graduate school. Japanese Language Trainees will receive their student ID card at the International Affairs Division.

Non-Degree-Seeking Students
Please apply to have certificates issued at the office of the department/graduate school you belong to. Certificate issuance system is unavailable.
Certificate of Student Registration: certifies that you are currently attending Kumamoto University
Transcript: certifies your scholastic performance
Medical Examination Certificate: Please ask the Health Care Center for issuance.
Furthermore, certificate of scholarship are issued only at the International Student Office no matter what your student status is. Please fill in the appropriate areas of Application Form for Certificate and then hand it in to the International Student Office. Request form are located in the office. Please be advised that it will take a few days to issue requested certificates, so please turn in your form well in advance.

Personal Tutor Scheme
We have a tutor scheme to assist new students at Kumamoto University assimilate to life in Japan as quickly as possible. These tutors would offer living support and study support to international students.

Health Care
Kumamoto University Health Care Center offers a wide range of medical services from general health care to various specialist services.

Health Consultation
When you feel sick, contact the staff at the Health Care Center, and visit the Ceter if you need medical treatment. Also, mental health doctors can see students who have mental problems. The contents of the discussions are kept strictly confidential.

Special Consultation
Medical doctors from Kumamoto University Hospital are available for special treatment. Details such as the day and the type of consultation will be posted on the bulletin board. Consultations are free of charge.

Periodic Medical Check-ups
Medical examinations conducted for international students consist of a medical examination at the time of admission to the university and then regular medical examinations from the second year on.
If students do not undergo a physical health examination, they cannot obtain the Physical Health Examination Certificate necessary for employment, education continuance, and scholarships application for new arrivals.

国际学生体检分为入学体检和第二学年往后定期体检。

Faculty of Letters
An annual party is held in October to promote collaboration and affinity among international students, tutors and faculty members.

Faculty of Law
Faculty mentors will be assigned to each student. In addition, one-on-one tutoring is available upon request.

Faculty of Education / Graduate School of Education
The faculty promotes active participation by teacher training students to teach and work on project with the schoolchildren of University Elementary School. In addition, biannual parties are held in June and December to facilitate collaboration and promote affinity among international students, tutors and faculty members.
The international officer guide and support variously at the afternoon on Tuesday and Friday.

5Emergency Services
Emergency calls are answered by an operator, and they will ask relevant questions, and arrange an appropriate response. Calls are free on all mobile phones.
For critical incidents not requiring an ambulance, the police or fire departmemt immediately, we recommend you call International Affairs Division during business hours Monday to Friday.

If you encounter any of the following emergencies, call 119 (local fire authority).
・Fire (in your house or in your neighborhood)
・Ambulance (when you get severely ill or injured)
・Rescue (If you get in serious trouble, such as you can't get out of a dangerous place, or if you see someone drowning)

What to do if you get robbed
If any of your money or goods are stolen off-campus, you should either dial 110 or go the nearest police box (Koban) to file a report. If you are robbed of something while on-campus, you should contact either the Student Affairs Section or the person in charge of your academic department right away.
